Shelbourne Sustainability

The Shelbourne Hotel prioritises environmental responsibility, embedding sustainability into our core business strategies. We educate our staff on best practices and work collaboratively to reduce our carbon footprint. Partnering with Green Hospitality reinforces our commitment to sustainable practices.

Green Initiatives

Waste Management: Waste separation is practised throughout the hotel, including guest room bins. Water is served in reusable and recyclable glass bottles. Smart care systems for toiletry dispensers reduce single-use plastic. Electronic invoices are sent to guests and suppliers. QR codes replace paper menus to minimise waste. The Shelbourne Hotel is a member of Repak Ireland.

Green Purchasing: We prioritise sourcing food from local suppliers to reduce food miles.

Community Social Responsibility: We advocate for sustainable transport, promoting the use of public transport and walking to local attractions. The Bike to Work scheme is available to all associates.

Green Initiatives

Energy Efficiency: We procure 100% Green Electricity and have replaced all major machinery with state-of-the-art, highly efficient equipment. LED lighting is installed throughout the hotel, and a Building Management System ensures precise scheduling and temperature control. Guestrooms operate a towel and linen reuse program, and power in guest rooms is activated by key cards.

Water Conservation: Our in-house maintenance team monitors monthly water consumption. Sensor-controlled urinals in public toilets reduce water usage, with regular spot checks. Slimline cisterns and double flush systems are installed in all toilets.
