Shortly after Martin Burke’s death in 1863, The Shelbourne Hotel we see today was designed by Victorian architect John McCurdy when tasked by new owners Messrs. Jury, Cotton and Goodman to produce a building equal in stature to the grand hotels of London or Paris – and to do so within 10 months!
